Privacy Policy
The technology of the Internet enables website owners to monitor people's behavior to an alarming extent. Search engines, online advertising companies, and other websites track with increasing detail where their visitors are from, what they search for, and what sites they visit, all in the name of improving their services and providing targeted advertising.
Imperial Kingdom is different. I believe that behavioral tracking is a violation of the right to privacy, so I will never track my visitors' behavior or collect any potentially personally-identifying information about you. The only data I collect about my visitors is how many of you there are, via the hit counter at the bottom of the home page. I may also look at my traffic logs to see how many hits this site received per day. Finally, Imperial Kingdom uses one cookie for the purpose of making the layouts work. If you select a layout from the layout page, a cookie will be placed on your computer to remember what layout you chose so you will see the same one when you return to the site. The cookie expires in one month and does not contain any uniquely identifying information about any visitor. The only information it contains is what layout you chose. I do not see the cookies and do not use them to find out anything about you. If you set your browser not to accept cookies, you'll simply see the default layout whenever you visit the site. Everything else about the site will work fine.
I will never attempt to find out where my visitors are from, what their IP addresses are, what sites they visited before coming to Imperial Kingdom, or any other information besides how many hits I get. I make this site primarily for my own enjoyment, and I am glad that other people enjoy it too, but I will never find it necessary to track my visitors' behavior in order to improve my site. I believe web surfers' right to privacy outweighs website owners' right to monitor their visitors.
Unfortunately, this privacy policy does not apply to external sites that I link to, or to my e-cards or polls, which are processed by external websites. To see the privacy policy for the e-cards, go to MyPostcards.com and scroll down to part 3. To my understanding, MyPostcards does not collect or store any e-mail addresses or the contents of any e-cards you send. The site that I use for polls is Alxnet.com. Check out their privacy policy here. The poll may collect your IP address and/or use a unique cookie ID when you vote, but it only records when you voted in the poll, not any of your other online activities.
I probably won't make any changes to this privacy policy in the foreseeable future, but if I ever do I will post an update about it on the home page and on this page.
